Fighting inequalities in access to healthcare around the world

The Pierre Fabre Foundation is a government-recognized public-interest humanitarian foundation. Since 1999, it has been working to combat inequalities in access to healthcare in the poorest countries.
A unique situation in France: the Pierre Fabre Foundation owns the Pierre Fabre Group but does not manage it.
Its actions are funded by dividends that it receives from the Pierre Fabre Group.

The Pierre Fabre Foundation works in more than 20 countries in Africa and Asia, and in Haiti and Lebanon.

Examples of its work:

  • The Pierre Fabre Foundation trains pharmacists to combat counterfeit drugs. Over 1,000 pharmacists are trained each year in Africa and Asia.
  • It intervenes in countries in crisis. It works alongside Dr. Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize winner, to help victims of sexual violence in Congo and in the Central African Republic. In Lebanon, it provides aid for the Lebanese population affected by the crisis and for Syrian refugees.
  • It is the world’s leading player working in Africa to fight sickle-cell disease, the world’s most common genetic disease, affecting 250,000 newborns each year (screening, care, training doctors, campaigning).
  • It works to help people with albinism, who are highly vulnerable and stigmatized. Its actions cover not only the medical aspects (preventing skin cancers, dermatological and ophthalmological consultations, etc.), but also the psychosocial support of patients and the education of local communities.
