How to optimize skin healing after a superficial dermatological procedure?
Following a superficial dermatological procedure, such as laser treatment or peeling, the skin is weakened. Redness, heat and itching may appear. Appropriate skin care is therefore essential to optimize healing and achieve the best possible results.
Simple everyday gestures
Gentle cleaning
Why?
To avoid further skin irritation.
How?
From the 1st day after the dermatological procedure:
Cleanse the treated area with a gentle cleansing gel, preferably soap-free (non-drying), fragrance-free and suitable for fragile skin, 1 to 2 times a day. Wash with cool or lukewarm water (too hot water dehydrates the skin).
Work into a lather, then rinse
Gently pat skin dry with a clean towel.
Temporarily avoid exfoliating products and toning lotions, which are harsh on fragile skin.
Apply a moisturizing and repairing treatment
Why?
For optimal repair, it is essential to maintain a good level of skin hydration.
How?
From the first day post-cut and until the skin's appearance improves, apply a fragrance-free repair treatment morning and night to clean, dry skin.
Protecting skin from the sun
Why?
After a superficial dermatological procedure, the skin becomes inflamed (redness, heat, discomfort, etc.), and therefore more sensitive to the effects of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays.
How?
Ideally , thearea treated by the dermatological procedure shouldnot be exposed to the sun for 2-3 weeks afterwards, by wearing covering clothing or staying in the shade.
If sun exposure is unavoidable, apply a high SPF50+ repair care product for fragile skin.
Soothe overheated skin
Why?
In addition to the repairing moisturizer, the skin may need additional tips to soothe the heat caused by a dermatological procedure.
How?
Apply compresses soaked in thermal spring water, 2 or 3 times a day, leaving on for 10 minutes.
