Summary of clinical results

Dexeryl emollient cream, an effective treatment for elderly people suffering from xerosis
Objective
To evaluate the efficacy of DEXERYL emollient cream in the treatment of people with senile xerosis.
Study
Single-center clinical study, comparing intra-individually the evolution of affected skin characteristics under topical administration of a glycerol and paraffin-based emollient with 2 applications per day to affected areas.
Population
50 patients included, over 60 years of age, in good physical and psychological health, with no family history of severe skin disorders.
Dosage
2 applications daily.
Duration
28 days.
Primary endpoint
Assessment of the degree of xerosis based on the severity of 5 clinical parameters: desquamation, tightness, cracking, excoriation and erythema (4-level severity scale).
Secondary endpoints
Self-assessment of itching, measurement of transepidermal water loss and stratum corneum water content.
Tolerance
A good tolerance profile and no episodes of undesirable side effects were observed.
Conclusion
98% of patients had no or mild signs of skin dryness after 1 month1. 87% reduction in itching after 1 month1. After 14 days, the skin was significantly hydrated1.
