Rosacea: how to care for your skin every day?
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that mainly affects the face, especially the cheeks and nose. It manifests itself as transient or persistent redness, the appearance of small blood vessels and/or acne-like pimples. These visible signs are often accompanied by sensations of discomfort such as tightness, tingling, even burning or pain. A skincare routine adapted to the sensitive skin of rosacea helps to soothe symptoms and restore skin comfort, making you feel better.
Simple everyday gestures
Gentle cleaning
Why?
Daily cleansing removes sebum and impurities that can aggravate skin irritation.
How?
Use a mild, soap-free cleanser suitable for sensitive skin prone to redness.
Apply gently with fingertips, using circular movements.
Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean cotton towel.
Apply an anti-redness moisturizer
Why?
Rosacea makes skin sensitive and easily irritated, so choosing the right cosmetics is key to soothing and limiting the symptoms of the disease.
How?
- Use moisturizing cosmetic products specifically formulated for sensitive skin prone to redness.
If applying medication to treat rosacea, the medication should be applied before the moisturizing anti-redness product.
- Do not apply cosmetics containing irritants such as alcohol, perfumes, fruit acids (glycolic acid), exfoliating or astringent products.
- Test skincare products a few days before applying them to your face, to make sure they are not irritating.
Year-round sun protection
Why?
The sun is one of the main triggers of rosacea: exposure to UV (ultraviolet) rays can trigger the onset of symptoms or aggravate existing signs.
How?
Seek shade, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Wear protective clothing and a hat.
Apply a high SPF50+ sun cream daily to exposed areas, even on cloudy days.
Opt for psychological support
if rosacea is a hindrance to daily life
Why?
Rosacea can be a daily challenge and a source of complexes due to its visible appearance and disturbing symptoms.
How?
Several sources of support are available for discussing the psychological impact of rosacea:
Friends and family.
Specialists such as psychologists.
Support groups on social networks for sharing experiences.
Sophrologists for emotional and stress management.
The right gestures to mask redness
- Cleanse and moisturize skin before applying make-up.
- Use dermatologically tested make-up suitable for sensitive skin.
- Use a green concealer stick or pencil to mask redness (green neutralizes red).
- Regularly clean make-up brushes and sponges.
- Always remove make-up.
