Atopic dermatitis is manifested by dry, itchy, sensitive skin. It is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by a dysfunction of the skin barrier but also anomalies of the immune system.
The objective of this study was to develop and validate a questionnaire measuring the burden of atopic dermatitis in families of atopic children.
The Atopic Dermatitis Burden Scale (ABS) questionnaire was developed. It is made up of 14 items grouped into 4 areas: family life, budget and work, daily life and treatment.
75 parents of atopic children completed this questionnaire. The data made it possible to validate this questionnaire by showing its consistency and its correlation with an existing questionnaire and assessing the quality of life: SF-12.
