Typical symptoms of atopic dermatitis include dry skin, itching, a modified skin barrier and an imbalance of the skin microbiome.

A controlled, randomized study published in 2016 in the journal Pediatric Dermatology showed that use of XeraCalm A.D by 54 children over a period of 28 days reduced the severity of atopic dermatitis, dryness and itching, restored the skin barrier and protected the skin microbiome.
