Tolerance and efficacy of MELASCREEN Protective anti-spots fluid SPF50+ in sunny conditions in subjects with superficial facial hyperpigmentation, under dermatological and ophthalmological control
Population
- 55 adult women (32 to 65 years old) with superficial facial hyperpigmentation (melasma 64%, lentigo 36%)
- Phototypes II to V; Combination to oily skin
- Study conducted in Mauritius
Application of MELASCREEN Anti-Spots Protective Fluid SPF50+
Application at least twice a day to the face, neck, décolleté and hands for 8 weeks in sunny conditions
Evaluation criteria
- Clinical scoring of overall efficacy on hyperpigmentation by the investigators (score from 0 = ineffective to 3 = very effective)
- Spectrometric evaluation of pigmentation (ITA angle measurement) of a pre-selected hyperpigmented area compared to an adjacent non-hyperpigmented control area
- Perceived efficacy and cosmetic acceptability evaluated by the subjects (score from 0 to 10; percentage satisfaction)
- Skin and eye tolerance
Results
- Rating of the efficacy of the product on the reduction of hyperpigmentation by the investigators from effective to very effective for 100% of the subjects at D57
- Significant evolution (p=0.05) in the difference in angle ITA° between hyperpigmentation and the control area (= depigmenting and unifying effect) from 1 month
- Significant improvement (p<0.001) in complexion radiance of +23% at 2 months (average score of 5.63)
- Light and invisible texture for 88.23% of subjects at 2 months (average score of 7.5/10)
- Excellent make-up base for 94% of subjects at 2 months (average score of 7.9/10)
- Good skin tolerance and excellent eye tolerance
